Roey Fitzpatrick
My brush with celebrity was being corralled by a passing newspaper photographer and ending up on the front page of the Brisbane Telegraph, at the age of seven. News was slow that day.
As an artist, I work in a variety of mediums and my works are in private collections in a various countries. Examples can be found here.
A founding member of the Guild of Australian Songwriters, I have written many songs over the years, some of which can be heard on this website, at Diamonds and Rain. I have performed in America, Australia, South Africa, England, Ireland, and Canada.
My career was in book publishing as an art director, graphic designer and illustrator, with such companies as John Murray (London), Brassey's (Washington), and Director of Art and Design for Jacaranda-Wiley (Brisbane).
I had the good fortune to work at John Murray, in London (above), a company which remained in the same family from 1768 until 2002. They published Jane Austen, Arthur Conan Doyle, Lord Byron, Goethe, and Charles Darwin.
I was their first work release student, and it helped pay my way through the Brookes University publishing course at Oxford.
